Student Enrichment at Aldama

CA Prop 28 graphicThrough the support of our community of families and friends, the Aldama Elementary Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and funding provided by the Community Schools Initiative and LAUSD, Aldama Elementary School is able to provide a well-rounded portfolio of student enrichment programs encompassing arts and music education, after-school STEM classes, gardening classes, and much more. Below is a preview of our offerings:

Arts Education emblemCalifornia's Proposition 28 provides arts education to schools as part of the weekly curriculum. For the 2024-25 school year, Aldama students will participate in visual arts and drama classes.
Education Through Music - Los Angeles emblemEducation Through Music – Los Angeles (ETM-LA) is a non-profit music education organization that places a music teacher at participating schools to provide singing and musical instrument instruction to all students. Affectionately known by Aldama students as "Music with Ms. B", classes culminate with two concerts, one at the end of each semester. Families are invited to watch their children perform. Funding for ETM-LA at Aldama is provided by the Aldama Elementary PTA.
EnrichLA emblemEnrichLA is a non-profit organization that builds gardens at participating schools and provides a Garden Ranger program that is integrated into the school's curriculum. Each week, Aldama students work with the Garden Ranger to tend the garden, learn about growing the food they eat, and build a deeper understanding of ecosystems and their natural environment. Funding for EnrichLA at Aldama is provided by the Aldama Elementary PTA.
Kodely emblemKodely is a non-profit organization offering after-school STEM education to students wishing to participate in workshops that mix technical skills with creativity and teamwork. Classes are taught on campus during the school week and are offered in both fall and spring semesters. The Aldama Elementary PTA provides need-based scholarships to a limited number of students.
Orff Ensemble emblemOrff Ensemble is an after-school program centered around playing orff instruments (similar to a small xylophone). The class if offered weekly through Education Through Music – Los Angeles (ETM-LA). Students will learn melody, rhythm, and teamwork while participating in a group ensemble. Each spring Orff Ensembles from around Los Angeles gather for a recital. Class size is limited, so sign up early in the school year. Orff Ensemble is provided by the Aldama Elementary PTA.
